Inspiration from the 60's, 70's and all things fashion, vintage, and fun...

Dallas Museum of Art

The DMA’s current Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit otherwise known as the most duh-luxe fashion showstopper is currently on display downtown. Its range is all over the rainbow. And it just keeps going. Literally ranges from ballerina esque tulle gowns, to dominatrix bondage dresses,  an army clad camouflage gown worn by sarah jessica parker, and of course the Gaultier corset.

I could only snap a couple photos (below) so I will try and describe.

Try to imagine: One room spray painted with graffiti on every wall. A moving catwalk displaying his creations from years past.  Amy Winehouse singing in the background. Living mannequins, literally they are alive. They were blurting out random words, winking, talking, and making eye contact with you. One mannequin even whistled at me. Naturally.

This was all taking place in just one of the rooms. And there were many, many more.

Mermaid. Mergoddess.

Manequine montage. Managerie of textiles.

Derranged eye candy meets couture.

Of course this was my favorite.

Sailor gown worn by Princess of Monaco.

Lucky biotch.

Wouldn’t this be a cute wedding dress?!

With sailor bridesmaids to match? Or just a sailor.

A quick trip to the ER

Lindsey had quick trip to the ER this past week….a bit of a dehydration episode following a shoot, no biggie, but had some fun styling the heinous backless gown while waiting for an MRI. Looking back at these, I might have been a bit delirious during this time.

In the first look, we have a hospital gown as a mod dress untied with opaque Wolford tights & paired with Ferragamo riding boots.

In the second ensemble, we have a summer mod dressing gown sans tights for warm weather hospital visits.

More conservative wrap dress, riding boots, no tights, and of course, a hospital bracelet as the accessory.

We are definitely thankful for our blessings this year and hope to continue them into 2012!

Viv Magazine – Fitness Shoot

Viv Magazine asked us to style a fitness segment for their January/February 2012 issue and we were thrilled to do so! So about two weeks ago, we took part in the shoot in Los Angeles.

Days and sometimes weeks before the shoot even happens, we have to “pull” pieces from different vendors & designers to create several looks for the shoot – some looks will be used, some will not be used. So obviously, prep is one of the most important things when it comes to any photo shoot and here we had boxes and boxes of fitness wear delivered to our office for the shoot.

There’s a pretty standard “stylist kit” when it comes to styling which usually includes pins, tape, a sewing kit, a lint roller, bobby pins, clothes pins, and clasps, to name a few… But we found these clasps comical because they are so big! We decided to have a little fun with them because these take the cake for the biggest clamps we’ve ever seen! I mean seriously, they’re huge & can definitely do some damage.

With all photo shoots, there’s a team of people that help everything come together. Here we have Katie chatting with a make-up artist from the Celestine Agency, Patrick Tumey.

Then of course, our models from Ford in their fitness gear…

And a couple more behind-the-scenes shots, including our models, hair stylist Giovanni Giuliano also from the Celestine Agency & photographer Giuliano Bekor.

Palm Springs + HeartSOUL

A few weeks ago, we styled a Fall & Spring Campaign photo shoot for HeartSoul Clothing in Palm Springs.

Here we are, the night of our arrival, out at dinner.

We stayed at the Del Marcos Hotel, which is in the heart of the legendary Palm Springs hotel & shopping district.

Katie sits in the lobby as the outside area is being set up for the shoot because not only did we stay at the hotel, but the shoot was there, too!

The pool area was small, intimate, colorful, and had a vintage feel to it, which of course, we loved!

Shooting around the grounds of the hotel and outside of it, there are some really picturesque views, including someawesome desert mountains & true blue skies!

Inside, we set up the styling studio in a hotel room and as you can see, we had many looks and accessories to complete.

Once the shoot was complete, we headed out to dinner with the photographer, Richard Hume, an amazing fashion photographer with a very impressive resume.

Wrapping up our time in Palm Springs, we found out an interesting fact. Did you know Palm Springs is famous for their dates and date shakes? We didn’t believe it ourselves, but apparently it’s true.

We had a great time shooting the campaign and look forward to sharing the end result with you all!

Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Event

Last Monday, November 15th, we went to the annual Tiffany & Co. Blue Book event at the Beverly Hills store on Rodeo Drive.

Talk about beautiful pieces! This show features some of the company’s most glamorous jewels in the world and we loved every piece they showed.

We were happy to go to the event but even more thrilled when we tried on some of the pieces featured that night. Check out some more of the photos from the event below:
