Inspiration from the 60's, 70's and all things fashion, vintage, and fun...

CANNES KICK OFF!

Our countdown was quite short as we didn’t post yesterday..

but today marks the FIRST day of CANNES FILM FESTIVAL!

Miss Marilyn Monroe is on the annual poster!

Although fifty years after her death, and never actually attending the festival, Miss Monroe still has quite the star power.

. We agree with this choice as it marks the 65th Anniversary for the festival,

and who better to blow out their birthday candles than

the forever muse and sex vixen herself??

Countdown to Cannes!

Countdown to CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2012: 2 days!

This year our tickets got lost in the mail :(

SO

we will have plenty of time to update the blog on Cannes and THE most fabulous and fashionable film festival in Europe during the next ten days in which we won’t be attending.

But of course, we are only going to highlight old school Cannes starlettes and their mod fashion from bikini clad nothings to elaborate evening gown.

This ol festival du film has been around since 1947.  So we have lots of years to reminisce. And these were the years of the REAL MOVIE STARS!

Let’s begin with the Belle du Jour, herself, Miss Catherine Deneuve attending in 1966.

Perfectly pretty perfection in her long sequined dress and white bow headband.

Fancy those gloves? We do!

Hippie Bunny

Since this is a vintage blog,

we think it’s only appropriate to add a shoot we did with a Playboy Playmate. We gave Miss May a hippie style…while wearing our jewelry line, The Agency, of course.

Enjoy!

More can be found on playboy.com or this month’s issue

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

After my recent weekend travels I thought it would be appropriate to post a few pics of 60′s airport travelers.  We should all take a little  inspiration from how well people used to put themselves together for a flight.

Safari

Spring is here and so are the season’s safari inspired pieces and tribal prints, however we prefer this trend 60′s style.

WE’RE GROVE-IN

Warning:  Please disregard our upside down pictures- we’re fashion stylists not IT gurus.

And we’re getting cross-eyed trying to figure it out. But you get the picture.

This ADORABLE white and black flowered bus is at The Grove in LA. We coudln’t resist stopping and taking a couple pictures of  the newest form of Kate Spade transportation.

They’ve teamed up with Australian born Florence Broadhurst who started out making wallpaper with these unforgettable prints.  What a smart collaboration.

Now turn your head to the left and check out the mirrored wall on the inside of the bus. Too cute. What is better than a ginormous floral bus filled with Kate Spade goodies? Chocolate? A massage?

We’re not sure.

And Lastly, I confess to an impulse buy at the very end of my bus ride…kidding the bus wasn’t moving, but I just couldn’t resist this colorful phone cover. Not sure if it’s loud and tacky but I can definitely find my phone in my black hole purse more easily.

Thoughts?

Fleas Please.

On Sunday we sold some of our vintage 60s and 70s finds at the Melrose Swap Meet on Melrose and Fairfax in West Hollywood.

Here’s the booth swarming with potential owners of our worn vintage numbers. Where’s Waldo? Lindsey in orange plaid pants.

This lovely lady’s name was “Mona.” She insisted on making fake names so I decided mine would be Edie. She was the shopper of the day. Too bad she doesn’t own a computer to see her tribute.

Mona purchased these pink plaid early 60s pants to match her purse….and me

The gift wtih purchase

After a loooong day of the flea market, a frozen drink in the vitamix was perfect.

Pineapple, grapefruit, and a little bit of spirits.
